What is Therapeutic Riding?*

Therapeutic Riding, also known, as Equine Assisted Therapy, Equine Facilitated Therapy and Riding for the Disabled, is the use of the horse and equine-oriented activities to achieve a variety of therapeutic goals.  This is accomplished by combining instruction in traditional horsemanship skills with concepts of physical  activities to improve the strength, balance and self-esteem of children and adults who are physically and/or mentally disabled.
